Mother Cabrini Health foundation awards $165 million in grants
The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation awarded 538 grants to organizations to address the health-related needs of New Yorkers. The grants total $165 million and will support nonprofits serving low-income and underserved populations.
“At a moment when New York State’s health needs are both acute and wide-ranging, the Foundation is supporting hundreds of programs addressing the needs of vulnerable New Yorkers and underserved communities across the state,” said Alfred Kelly, chair and CEO of Visa and chair of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Board.
“From building up our health care workforce and providing essential resources for immigrants and migrants, to investing in community-based providers that address chronic challenges from mental health to food insecurity, funding this year will again offer much-needed support to underserved communities.”
In spring of 2022, the Foundation opened the application process for organizations seeking funding through an open process. They received over 1,500 letters of interest. Approximately 46% of the grants were for $250,000 or more. Read more here. – Angelique Molina-Mangaroo |

The $425 million, 7-acre development on the site of the former Brooklyn Developmental Center was supported by Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams, with over $216 million in state financing from New York State Homes and Community Renewal in addition to $35 million from the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development. All six buildings were constructed to meet Enterprise Green Community standards.
Craig Newmark Philanthropies has donated $250,000 to Girl Scouts of Greater New York (GSGNY), renewing funding for a slate of Cybersecurity training programs that annually reaches over 1,000 Girl Scouts across New York City. Cybersecurity training will be available to Girl Scouts of all ages: from virtual programs, virtual workplace field trips and cybersecurity professional mentorship to earn cybersecurity badges designed for their age group. These cybersecurity programs are GSGNY’s latest additions to a robust suite of STEM programming for girls, offered through partnerships with institutions including the New York Hall of Science, VidCode, and FIRST Robotics.
