- Pay: Annual Salary; Exempt; $55,000 - $65,000 commensurate with experience
Job Summary:
As a part of our people team, you will play a dynamic role in shaping and executing people policies, spanning employee relations, performance management, recruitment, succession planning, career development, payroll, total rewards, and compliance. There might not be a typical day for you, so you are comfortable wearing multiple hats and having a range of responsibilities. You bring a can-do, hands-on attitude to everything you do.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead HR point of contact for 2-3 divisions of Henry Street Settlement; administer people operations for those divisions (i.e., new hire/termination documents, unemployment claims, leave of absence administration, background checks, exit interviews)
- Provide strategic advice and coaching to managers regarding program design, employee relations practices, policies, performance management, and employment laws with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Support recruiting: consult with hiring managers on job design and assist in interviewing and candidate selection
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in talent management and personnel administration preferred
- Proven passion for the HR field required, SHRM Certification and/or an HR related degree is a plus
- Solid knowledge of city, state and federal employment laws
- Non-profit/social service experience is a must
- Great verbal and written communication with a high degree of integrity, accountability, and emotional intelligence
- Excellent problem-solver with thoughtful, data-driven approaches to challenges
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb flights of stairs
- Ability to work onsite in the Lower East Side
- Vaccinated against COVID-19
